Our Beliefs

What We Believe

Rooted in the historic Christian faith

Rooted in Scripture & Centered on Christ

Real Life House is rooted in the historic Christian faith revealed in Scripture and centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We welcome students from many backgrounds and church traditions, including those who are exploring Christianity or asking serious questions about faith. At the same time, we believe genuine hospitality does not require theological uncertainty. What we believe matters because what is true about God shapes how we understand ourselves, one another, and the whole of life.

Here is what lies at the heart of what we believe.

At the Heart of Our Faith

We believe the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, inerrant Word of God, trustworthy and authoritative in all they teach and sufficient for knowing God, receiving the gospel, and learning to live faithfully before Him.

We seek therefore to read Scripture carefully, understand it faithfully, believe what it teaches, and live under its authority.

We believe in one true and living God, eternally existing in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—equal in deity and glory.

God is holy, loving, sovereign, and good. He created all things, sustains all things, and is working out His purposes for His glory and the redemption and restoration of His creation.

We believe every human being is created in the image of God and therefore possesses God-given dignity, worth, and significance.

We were created to know God, glorify Him, love one another, and live under His good rule. Yet humanity has rebelled against God. Sin reaches into every part of who we are and has left us alienated from God and unable to rescue ourselves.

Our deepest need is not simply improvement. We need redemption.

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, truly God and truly man.

He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfectly righteous and sinless life, proclaimed God's kingdom, and gave Himself on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners.

He rose bodily from the dead, ascended to the Father, reigns as Lord, and will return personally and bodily to make all things new.

Jesus Christ stands at the center of the Christian faith and at the center of everything we do.

We believe the gospel is the good news of what God has done for sinners through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Salvation is God's gift from beginning to end. We are made right with God by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone—not by our works or merit.

Through Christ our sins are forgiven, His righteousness is counted as ours, we are reconciled to God and adopted into His family, and we receive new and eternal life.

The proper response to the gospel is repentance and faith—turning from sin and resting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

We believe the Holy Spirit gives new life, unites believers to Christ, dwells within God's people, teaches and guides us through His Word, equips believers for service, and progressively transforms us into the likeness of Christ.

The Christian life is therefore more than agreeing with Christian beliefs. It is a life of repentance and faith, worship and obedience, prayer and dependence, love and service, and ongoing growth in Christ.

We believe Jesus is building His Church, the people He has redeemed from every tribe, people, and nation.

Christians are not meant to follow Jesus alone. God calls His people into the life of local churches where they gather around His Word, worship and pray, receive baptism and the Lord's Supper, care for one another, grow together, and participate in Christ's mission in the world.

Real Life House seeks to serve alongside and strengthen the ministry of local churches, partnering with churches and campus ministries to help young men and women grow toward mature, thoughtful, faithful Christian lives.

We believe Jesus Christ will return personally, visibly, and bodily. The dead will be raised, Christ will judge with perfect righteousness, evil and death will finally be defeated, and God's people will live forever with Him in the new heavens and new earth.

Our Christian hope is therefore not merely about what happens when we die. We look forward to the resurrection of the body and the restoration of all things under the reign of Jesus Christ.

That future hope gives meaning to how we worship, learn, work, love, serve, suffer, and live today.

Our Tradition & Convictions

Our Theological Commitments

Real Life House stands within the historic, orthodox Christian faith expressed in the Apostles' Creed and Nicene Creed. We stand in the evangelical and Protestant tradition, affirming the great truths recovered and emphasized in the Reformation: Scripture alone as our final authority, salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, all to the glory of God alone.

Our teaching is also shaped by the Reformed theological tradition and its historic confessions and catechisms. We gladly serve alongside faithful Christians and churches from different denominational traditions who share the central truths of the gospel.

We recognize that Christians who faithfully submit to Scripture sometimes reach different conclusions on important secondary matters. We seek to approach those differences with biblical conviction, theological humility, and genuine Christian charity—always returning together to God's Word and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
